Post-Implementation Review, Modification & Enhancement
After the majority of the system has been implemented for a period of time, typically six to twelve months, the company should review the operation of the Business Control System. Reasons for a Post Implementation Review
This review would be conducted and opportunities for improvement would be identified. Based on this, an action plan would be prepared to implement these improvements. Post Implementation Review Tasks
As a general rule, it is desirable to avoid making modifications to software packages so that vendor enhancement and new releases can be readily installed and the responsibility for program errors is easily determined. However, there may be occasions where critical user requirements cannot be satisfied by the package as it is provided, and it becomes appropriate to modify the software package. A more suitable approach is the development of software enhancements that add capabilities through separate programs that do not actually affect existing program code. In addition, a company may want to integrate ERP software to other existing business systems or CRM, SCM, etc... applications. During this activity, critical, unsatisfied ERP requirements and CRM, SCM, etc... integration requirements would be identified. Management would review these requirements and the proposed solution. If warranted, specifications would be prepared for the approved software modifications, enhancements, and integration. The enhancement or customization of a package to a user's environment can be facilitated by a vendor's report writer software which allows a user to readily prepare ad-hoc or customized reports. If appropriate, this capability should be used to satisfy a modification of enhancement need. In many software packages, certain programs are intended to be modified to tailor output documents such as checks, purchase orders, to the company's particular format. The company will need to review the output format of these sample programs and determine which formats will require modification. Specifications would also need to be prepared to define these modifications. The modifications, enhancements and integration could be developed by company personnel, specified to the software vendor for development or be developed by Zenobia & Associates Consultants. We use or structured Computer System Methodology (CSM) to rigorously define and develop modifications and enhancements to assure a timely, satisfactory, and cost-effective product. At a minimum, we can support the development activities by answering questions related to the modifications, enhancements, and integration as they arise and by providing required direction. Upon completion, The modifications, enhancements, and integration would be tested and documentation would be updated.
